Officers

Meet Our Officers

Name: Laura Trenev
Major: Biology
Year: Senior
Position: Co-President

Hello! My name is Laura and I am one of the Co-Presidents of APPS. I am a fifth year biology student and have been actively involved with APPS since my second year of college. I like to spend my free time going to the beach, exploring new restaurants, and being active outdoors. I’m interested in a career in pharmacy because I love the freedom that you have within the profession to do whatever you want. There are so many different paths you can take after going to pharmacy school as well as a variety of settings in which you can work in. I have my tech license and can answer any questions you have about getting it. I’m so excited to share with you why a career in pharmacy is so rewarding and if you have any questions about anything I’m more than happy to help you out!

Name: Winnie Kuang
Major: Biology
Year: Senior
Position: Co-President

Hi! My name is Winnie Kuang, and I am the 2017-2018 APPS Co-President. I have been a part of APPS since my freshman year, and have held the officer intern and secretary position before. Some of the goals I have for this semester are to build stronger connections with our members and help them pursue a career in pharmacy. As an officer of this pharmacy club, I see this position as an opportunity to ‘dispense’ knowledge to our members. I am currently a pharmacy technician and applying to pharmacy schools, and I hope that I can help other students with the knowledge and experience that I currently have as a pre-pharmacy student. One of the reasons I chose to pursue a career in the field of pharmacy is because I like how it is focused on patient treatment, rather than diagnosis. The field of pharmacy is so diverse, which makes so many different opportunities available for us to explore. Aside from APPS, I am also a part of Aztec Professional Pre-Health Organization and Flying Samaritans.

Name: James Lao
Major: Biology
Year: Senior
Position: Co-Events Director

Hello! My name is James Lao and I am the Co-Events Director for the Association of PrePharmacy Students of 2017-2018. I am a 5th year biology major and love to sing and enjoy having deep conversations. I believe being able to interact with others to a deep level has been my passion in why I want to pursue the pharmacy field and help patients on a more personal level. I heard about this organization as a freshmen through networking in classes and have never left this organization since! I have been the previous Co-Events Director and Vice President for this organization as well as the Apps Intern. It has been a great privilege for me to be a part of this organization which has served me greatly in networking and helping others. My vision for this organization as an officer is for members to network with pharmacists and health care professionals during our events and allow our members to ask questions and bond with our officers. If you are seeking networking opportunities, I encourage you to participate in our events that can be found on our calendar! You are also welcome to ask questions and suggestions for future events! I am extremely proud of this organization in what they have done for me, and I will continue to uphold our values and the values of pharmacy and health care professionals. Because the direction and future of pharmacy is very diverse, I am proud to pursue this highly respected and trusted profession.
